In compliance with Indiana law , a checkoff assessment of ½-cent ($0.005) shall be collected on each bushel of corn marketed in the state of Indiana. The checkoff requirements do not apply to popcorn, seed corn, or sweet corn. Should you decide not to support the corn checkoff program, a refund will be issued. Remember, funds collected from Indiana’s new corn checkoff, by law, cannot be used to lobby or perform national or state legislative and policy work for you. To support those efforts, join ICGA now by downloading a membership application . News Meeting Notice: Indiana Corn Marketing Council The Indiana Corn Marketing Council will meet on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at the Indiana Farm Bureau offices, Butler Room, 225 S East St. in Indianapolis. The Indiana Corn Marketing Council was established by the Indiana General Assemble to promote the interest of corn growers in the state and manage corn checkoff funds. The Council is composed of 15 elected producer directors and 10 appointed farmer, industry and government representatives. Corn Checkoff Seeks Farmers for Upcoming Director Elections Indiana corn farmers interested in directing how the state’s corn checkoff dollars are invested are encouraged to run for election to the Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC) board of directors. The new grant program is designed to help fuel retailers with the cost of converting existing fuel storage tanks to hold E85 (85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline) that can offer consumers a cleaner choice at the pump. Ten Hoosier Corn Producers Running for New At-Large Seats on Indiana Corn Marketing Council Hoosier corn producers are encouraged to vote in the Indiana Corn Marketing Council’s (ICMC) Annual Election on August 27 at their local county Purdue Cooperative Extension Service office. The ICMC is in the process of expanding its board of directors to meet the requirements of the revised Indiana Corn Checkoff Law - which went into effect on July 1. New State Corn Checkoff Starts July 1 A new state corn checkoff program starts July 1 after the Indiana General Assembly voted in favor of Senate Bill 250 on April 28. The checkoff funds will be used to discover new uses for corn, corn research, marketing and education.
